Ted Weldon, coach at the Valentine high school and brother of Dr. R. C. Weldon, said in Nebraska City recently that a number of the high school students attending the Valentine school travel as far as 60 miles.

Students who live in the sandhills 'board in ' a week at a time in Valentine.

Coach Weldon paid the highest of compliments to Sam Metcalf, school superintendent. The coach worked under Mr. Metcalf five years in Valentine.

County Superintendent Carl Gawart's young son, Kent, was as brave as can be for a tonsil removing job, but the pricking-of-the-finger for the blood test was a different story.

Sunday, August 25, is the day for the national fiddling and country music contests.

Richardson county Sheriff Ed Mahoney is defending champion in the fiddlin' event.

Nebraska Citians will be especially interested in the western music contests because the winners will appear at Memorial Building September 9 on the Grand Ole' Opry card under Junior Chamber sponsorship.
